In my head (2022)

In my head (2022) is a painting inspired by the song Better off dead by Sleeping with Sirens. Reflecting on the often-unhealthy thought patterns of someone struggling with compromised mental health, this work does not focus on a single, cohesive idea, but instead conjures a chaotic state of mind. In this way, the painting is diaristic, like writing freely from the subconscious in one’s personal journal. It has been created with a series of different symbols and stories not unlike different voices in someone’s head. The mixed media approach, which uses collage, fabric, charcoal, acrylic paint and markers, is a material reflection of this chaos.
