When I think about the concept “the future feels familiar,” I see my past and future as being connected — what has come informs what’s to be. For this exhibition, I wanted to create a personal piece that captured times and experiences in my life from childhood and adolescence, while simultaneously questioning what could happen in years to come. Thank you for touching my life (2024) is a large-scale textile work that uses found fabrics, painting, text and various sculptural elements to create an experimental, biographical montage. The work is diaristic, reflects on real-life events, and understands them all — no matter whether connected to pleasure or pain — as being important to the person I am today. The futuristic aspect of this work questions my expectations of conventional pathways and seeks to manifest a life for myself that is truly mine

In some instances, this letter to too explicit. It now stands on its own, as its own work, waiting for times to change.
